Jessica A. Goolsby
The balance is off.
The tide is pulling me &
Shooting me to the shore.
There is sand in my eyes,
A distorted view.
Might as well break my legs if I am not going to stand.
I’m sick of the cycle,
I’m so sick and aware.
The sun continues to reach me,
But I am still so cold.
I have allowed my heart to be cracked,
My mind to be fed by everything but the truth.
They don’t care.
Not him or her or them.
Not one of them.
I long for that sun and the warmth it provides.
It is all I want,
Please cover me.
I’m desperate for you.
I hate the way I feel,
I hate the way this stings.
With all of my might,
To the sea I sprint,
It is my last hope.
My bold desire unites with waves,
And I’m washed with salt and light.
I’m smiling through each crash.
I’m still here,
But the sky is looking beautiful,
And the sun feels amazing as it covers me.
As high as my hands can go, they rise.
If only I could thank you.
If only I could reach you like you have got to me.
But I am only me & you are the sun.
You are big and I am small.
Now in this world I’m floating.
I am lifted above the water seeing sites
So vast and wondrous.
How are people going to believe this?
All I want is for them to experience this love.
I am resting on a hill and I notice the sky.
How can it be?
Oh the design and intention.
Thank you for this new perspective.
You are my world and my sun.
Shine on forever my God.
